The Cat/Camel is a great exercise designed to increased the range of motion of our spine and reduce stiffness felt through out our back. The goal of this exercise is to move with intention through flexion and extension of the spine. By initiating movement at the pelvis you can slowly move through spinal flexion/extension with intention, focusing on small segmental movements of the joints of the spine. Here you can identify areas of the spine that are tight, and restricted in motion and work to increase the amount of control we have in these restricted areas. Overall we are working to improve our range of motion, and the ability to move through this range freely, reducing stiffness and improving our ease of movement throughout the day.
